A single entry in your browser's local storage, named cookie-choice. It holds either the word "all" or the word "min", which is the answer you gave to the notice. Its only job is to stop that notice reappearing on every page.
It is not an identifier, it does not contain your name, and it never leaves your device. Our server never receives it.
No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party profiling cookies, no session recording. We could not tell you how many people looked at this site last month, and in twenty-six years of laying floors it has never mattered.
There is no newsletter, no social buttons and no embedded map, because each of those drags in cookies belonging to somebody else without asking you first.
The photographs on this site are served by images.unsplash.com and the Poppins typeface by Google Fonts. To deliver those files, both servers necessarily see your IP address, the page you came from and your browser type. Neither sets a cookie here.
Turn them off from the notice and the site still reads perfectly well: the photographs stop loading and the text falls back to a system typeface.
The Cookie settings button at the bottom of every page reopens the notice with the switch, and a different answer can be saved at any time.
You can also clear it from your browser settings, under site data. The notice will then appear again on your next visit, exactly as it did the first time.
The company hosting this site keeps ordinary access logs for a limited period: IP address, time, page requested. They exist for security and for working out why something broke, they are held by the host rather than by us, and we do not use them to measure traffic.
